Will there be any problem with parts and services if a customer buys GM / Chevrolet cars, since there are reports that they are in financial trouble?
|
Absolutely not. GM India, which manufactures and sells the Chevrolet brand of cars, has been operating in India for the last 14 years. It is a well established company and is here to stay.
GM India has two sophisticated and state-of-the-art car manufacturing plants - one at Halol in Gujarat and the other at Talegaon near Pune with a total capacity of 2,25,000 units per annum.
It's also the fifth-largest car maker in India with hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers in its fold across the country. GM India also has a Technical Centre in Bangalore to take care of its engineering, designing and R&D activities, and its Corporate Headquarters is based in Gurgaon.
GM has also invested over Rs.5000 crore in India and employs over 4000 people in this country. |

How about GM / Chevrolet cars in terms of quality, performance and other product attributes?
|
GM India has brought unmatched product quality and customer care to its Indian consumers. It offers best-in-class products and services with a country-wide dealership and service network.
GM India’s vehicles, the Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA and the little Chevrolet Spark have all won many automotive excellence awards from various automobile experts and the media, and also the acceptance of our valuable customers in India.
GM India has also introduced a number of industry-first, customer-friendly initiatives like guarantees, warranties, cashless cost of ownership offers, The Chevrolet Promise, a 24X7 helpline service, etc., etc. to cater to the requirements of its valued customers across the country and set benchmarks for best-in-class services. |
|
|
There is news that there are some financial problems with GM India’s parent company in the US and the company may close down its Indian operations like Daewoo?
|
This is absolutely incorrect. GM is a large corporation and the developments in the US have no bearing on our Indian operations. The bankruptcy proceedings, if it all these take place, will be aimed at reorganizing the US operations of GM - to be very precise, this action will be specifically limited to GM’s North American operations.
In the US, “bankruptcy” or “Chapter 11,” contrary to the newspaper reports and speculation, is used as a powerful tool to make a company stronger to suit changing business environments. Therefore, Chapter 11, if used in North America, will only make GM stronger than ever before.
Remember, GM has a proud history of more than 100 years. As far as GM's Indian operations are concerned, we are not going anywhere. GM is here to stay and GM India will continue all its normal operations in the future also. GM India is a successful, independent business unit and we do not see any change to our growing operations in India. |
